It's time to begin your safari. Welcome to Tanzania! After we greet you and provide you with the trip briefing, we'll take you out to help you discover why so many people think Tanzania is the best place in Africa to go on safari.

Mikumi National Park is one of Africa’s most surprising parks – you’ll quickly discover that it’s a wonderful place to watch wildlife. On safari here you can expect to see three of Africa’s most sought-after predators – lions, leopards and endangered African wild dogs. You’ll also spot wildebeest, giraffes, honey badgers, buffaloes, and a long-running research center that studies yellow baboons. Watch for two giants of the African safari experience: elephants and baobabs. Surrounded by mountains, you’ll enjoy excellent bird watching and a range of signature African habitats, including open plains fringed with thin woodlands.

Dar es Salaam

It may be Tanzania’s biggest city, but Dar es Salaam can be a surprisingly relaxed place. Enjoy its markets, restaurants, museums and beaches.

You'll be heading down more safari trails in search of animals in Mikumi National Park when we take you on a guided game drive. This is the best thing about many safaris, and you'll hopefully see many animals.

Day 3

Udzungwa Mountains National Park

You won’t see crowds at Udzungwa Mountains National Park – not many people come here, despite there being so much to see. Udzungwa is all about the forested mountains that shelter amazing birdlife and 10 different species of primate. No Tanzanian park has as many different kinds of primate as you’ll find here. The forests are beautiful, and you should keep an eye out for the leopards and elephants that are sometimes seen. On the Kilombero floodplain you should come across hippos and crocodiles.

Explore Udzungwa Mountains National Park on foot this morning when you join us on a memorable hiking excursion.

Afternoon

Dive in for a swim this afternoon in Sanje Waterfalls. It's a wonderful way to relax and cool off.
